Meet amy Mathieu
Amy started her career clerking for the Honorable Christine Ward, of the Civil Division of Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. While there, she played a role in starting the Name Change Court, a monthly celebratory court session for trans individuals seeking legal gender-affirming names. Since then, Amy has spent her career fighting for those who often struggle with, or are left behind by, the legal system. She has represented survivors/victims of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and workplace discrimination. She has stood next to survivors in a courtroom and fought for their voices to be heard. She has taken on institutions and corporations that have wronged individuals. Now, she wants to lead a courtroom with compassion, empathy, and fairness for all people.
Amy's "why"
JUSTICE FOR ALL. EQUALITY FOR ALL. AMY FOR ALL.
Creating a fair justice system means that everyone has equal access to the courts. It means that when someone walks into a criminal court room, the color of their skin doesn’t determine the outcome of their case. It means that when someone walks into a civil court room, the money in their bank account doesn’t determine whether they can pursue justice or not. A judge’s #1 job is to level the playing field for all participants in the court room.
